Thursday February 27th has been confirmed as the day when the referendum on the Semington Neighbourhood Plan will take place. The ballot box(es) will be in the village hall and there will be the usual opportunities for postal voting. If there is a “yes” vote, the neighbourhood plan will become part of the Wiltshire Local Plan and carry legal weight in decision-making.
The rules are that a simple majority is needed for a “yes” vote with no minimum threshold for turn-out. If the plan is approved, it will mean that we shall have maximum influence on future development across the parish. Another way of putting this is that it will make it much harder for developers to force us to accept their proposals for new housing.
You’ll find a paper copy of the plan and supportive papers are in the village hall and it can be read and downloaded from the Parish Council website.
